Penumbra Respite Care is a subsidiary of Penumbra and works to provide residential respite care for adults experiencing or recovering from mental health problems and to provide short breaks from the caring relationship.
Based at Cairdeas House in Edinburgh, we offer a safe, homely environment where people can come for a planned break from the pressures of difficult living routines or ongoing ill health. Around a third of our bookings also give carers and other family members a break from the responsibilities of continuous care. Vacancies allowing, we can provide emergency/crisis breaks where the crisis is of a social nature eg in the case of carer ill health.
Cairdeas House is a national facility, so although we are based in Edinburgh, people are currently referred to us from 26 Scottish local authorities, and 2 from the North of England.
